At both clinics, we accept all health funds with our HICAPS facility available for fast claims on-the-spot. We are also a preferred provider with Medibank, Bupa and CBHS meaning greater value for your cover, and lower out-of-pocket expenses.
Medibank Members’ Choice Network
Benefits of visiting SO Dental, a Members’ Choice provider include:
- Generally lower out-of-pockets than non-Members’ Choice providers
- Percentage back of charge. This could be 55%, 70%, 85% or 100% for eligible services up to your annual limit depending on your cover

Medibank Members’ Choice Advantage Network
Both SO Dental locations in Chatswood are part of the Members’ Choice Advantage Network. This offers enhanced customer value to Medibank members who visit us including:
- 100% back on up to two dental check-up and cleans per calendar year (over and above your annual limits) including X-rays*
- 100% back on one mouthguard per calendar year (over and above your annual limits)
*Maximum of 2 bitewing X-rays per check-up if clinically needed.

Bupa Members’ First Network
For most dental services, you will generally get more money back at a Bupa Members’ First Network dental clinic such as SO Dental, compared to other dentists. Financial pain and uncertainty is taken out of dental expenses through:
- No Gap Kids Dental until they turn 25*
- Certainty of known out-of-pocket expenses on most dental services
- Increased benefits on most dental services
*Available on selected Extra covers when taken with hospital cover on a family membership, when treatment is provided by a Members First dentist. Excludes orthodontics and hospital treatments. Dental fund rules, waiting periods and yearly limits apply. Child dependants only.

The Child Dental Benefits Scheme (CDBS)
This government scheme covers the cost of a range of essential dental services for children and teenagers 2 to 17 years old.
Dental Services Covered
Essential dental services including exams, x-rays, fissure sealants, fillings and extractions up to the $1000 every 2 calendar years is covered for eligible children aged 2-17.
To get CDBS, you or your child must get an eligible payment for at least 1 day of the calendar year, and be eligible for Medicare. This is assessed by the Department of Human Services, for more information click here.
Out-of-pocket Expenses under CDBS
There are no out-of-pocket expenses for dental services provided under the CDBS as long as they are within your benefit limit.

Department of Veterans’ Affairs
This government scheme provides financial support for essential dental procedures for war veterans, their war widows and widowers and dependants. The Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) determines your eligibility for the scheme.
Dental Services Covered
Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) will fund all dental services, provided under DVA arrangements, necessary to meet a clinical need for Gold Card holders. For White Card holders, dental treatment can only be provided in relation to your accepted disabilities.
All the dentists and dental hygienists at SO Dental Chatswood are DVA health providers and eligible to provide dental services to members of the veteran community through this scheme.
Out-of-Pocket Expenses for DVA Patients
Dental procedures including examinations, x-rays, cleans, fillings, extractions are covered under Schedule A and Schedule B conditions of the Department of Veterans’ Affairs Dental Schedule. There are no out-of-pocket expenses for DVA patients for treatment under Schedule A and Schedule B.
Other more complex procedures outside of Schedule A and Schedule B are subject to annual limits as determined by the DVA. As long as these annual limits are not reached, there will be no out-of-pocket expenses for the dental treatment.
